It's been over two months since my last post and while I went on a trip and have had a pretty great summer, I don't have a whole lot to share. Maybe I should make it a point to log on and tell you something about myself, even if most readers already know it, every week. That way I can always get my writing in. But I've said that before and look what good I am at keeping my word.
I have a hard time blogging when I'm not using my laptop. I need to buy a new charger cord because my cat chewed through mine. Awesome cat. Also I don't see the simplicity of using my iPhone to blog, even though the typepad app is alright. I just don't enjoy it without a keyboard. It's too hard to get your thoughts down.
California was awesome, Sadie and I got lots of relaxing in and while we didn't do a whole lot of the Southern California staples, we did have a ot of fun doing things we don't usually do. We hit up Balboa Island which was really fun. Before venturing out to the ferry, we shopped at Fashion Island. We visited the Nixon Library and Museum which was fun and interesting. We had a LOT of The Coffee Bean, breakfast at Jack in the Box, and other good restaurants. We used lots of suntan lotion and read a lot. I got through The Book Thief finally. It was a wonderful book. I've never read anything like it. It was very touching and emotionally draining, but also uplifting in ways and the perspective was incredible.
I started a new series while I was there, and I was trying to decide between a couple that I have been recommended. I decided to go with Shiver and Linger because they were shorter than the other series, and also seemed like quick light reads. I got through the first one in a few days, and I enjoyed it, but I wasn't so connected with the characters like other books I've read, so continuing through the second book wasn't as easy. I'm still only a quarter of the way through and I feel like I have to force myself to pick it back up. Deep down I know there will be new storylines and intersting changes, but I have a whole stack of books that I own that I either didn't finish or couldn't get through because another better book came out or I just could not get through it. I think since that list is larger than I care to admit, I don't want to add another book to it. Especially one this short. I will get through it! I'm anxious to get back to the ones that I haven't been able to get through.
School will be starting back up again soon. I haven't written since the end of the school year. In fact, there was a day where I did write a post, I can't remember what I was talking about (must have been super interesting and important) but I do remember being happy with it, and sure enough website jammed, lost the whole thing. So out of anger I just walked away. Sometimes even when it's fresh on my mind and I could try to recreate it, I just didn't. It's just not the same. Anyway, it was really tough seeing some of the kids I worked with my first year at the school graduate on to middle school. That's going to be a really hard part of this job. Luckily the middle school is close by and I can easily visit.
There is still plenty of summer left, I have a good number of things left to do for fun, and to get done before college starts back up. I'm getting really anxious to be done with that too!
Thanks for reading, as I always say, I'll try to write more! I've really fallen off and want to get back into the groove of writing!
Happy Summer!!

Jack, I am trying to read The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo right now and it is hard to get into. Good luck with it and I love you!

Yeah I had a REALLY hard time. I got very little in, maybe a couple dozen pages and I just struggled. I keep being told to get to the good parts that are about half way in and it's exciting and hard to put down after that.
